Pickering Councillor Lisa Robinson is raking up another controversy asking if Pickering’s fire chief is ignoring public safety risks?
“During an executive meeting, I raised urgent concerns about a firefighter survey revealing shocking truths: nearly 40 per cent believe the community lacks adequate fire protection, and a staggering 84 per cent think current staffing is insufficient,” she said in a video address on social media.
“Yet, the fire chief dismissed these voices, trusting outdated consultant data over his own team. Even worse, he deflected responsibility, suggesting I personally track down anonymous respondents to clarify their concerns,” Robinson said.
“How can we plan fire services using 2021 data while ignoring Pickering’s growing population? Why prioritize non-essential spending over hiring firefighters or upgrading facilities? This leadership failure risks lives and erodes trust,” she said.
“Residents deserve action, not dismissive remarks like “here she comes” from a fire chief caught on a hot mic. Our city needs transparency, accountability, and respect—not negligence and excuses,” she added.
