Man assaulted with this gun, suspect arrested

Durham Police yesterday said a male is in custody after committing an assault with a firearm and making threats.

On Tuesday, October 17 at about 11:50 am, members of Central East Division responded to a check on well-being call in the area of Mary Street North and Colborne Street East in Oshawa.

When arriving on scene, officers received further information that a male had fled on foot and was possibly in possession of a firearm. The Tactical Support Unit and K9 Unit attended the scene and contained the area. The victim was located with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was transported by police to a safe location, said a police statement.

Police located the suspect who was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital for minor injuries, it added.

A search warrant was executed at a residence related to the suspect and a firearm was located.

The suspect, age 40 of Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
