Never-licenced driver runs red light, promptly gets caught

Guess the driver of the van above was an overconfident driving adept as he never bothered to dispense with such civic niceties as getting a driving licence.

Overconfidence generally leads to carelessness, but all was well until the motorist ran a red light in front of the eagle-eyed Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers in Pickering on Tuesday morning.

“This motor vehicle stopped for a red light offence and the never-licenced driver received multiple summons to court,” said a DRPS West Division alert.

It said the motor vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Meanwhile, DRPS West Division yesterday said crossing guards play a vital role in protecting students as they head to school.

“If you fail to obey a crossing guards sign you could be subject to significant fines and put the safety of our youth + other road users at risk,” they warned.
