New Whitby Sports Complex starts rising above the ground

The first structures of the new $155 million Whitby Sports Complex have begun rising off the ground, according to a construction update released by the Town of Whitby.

The ground for the complex was broken during a ceremony on September 14, last year.

“Progress update! Construction continues to be on track for the future Whitby Sports Complex,” claimed a town notice.

It said works done so far include:

  • Excavation, site grading and stormwater piping
  • Underground foundations
  • Arena and dressing room walls

The new facility and park are being built west of Baldwin Street South, south of the intersection of Highway 407, and are expected to open in late-2025.
