Newcastle Leash-free Dog Park has reopened

The Municipality of Clarington announced on Thursday that the Newcastle Leash-free Dog Park has reopened ahead of schedule.

The Newcastle Leash-Free Dog Park had closed for about two weeks, beginning May 29, while crews completed necessary construction work on Phase 2 of the Newcastle Community Park.

The municipality said work is currently underway to construct new tennis and pickleball courts, a baseball diamond, shade structure and more. The new park is expected to open in late summer 2023.

“We would also like to remind residents that the skate park will remain closed and fenced off until construction on the community park is complete. Please do not cross the barriers that have been put in place to protect the safety of the community,” said a municipal statement.
