No valid licence or insurance leads to drug trafficking charges

A woman has been charged with drug trafficking following a traffic stop in Scugog, according to Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS).

On Tuesday, January 14, at about 6:20 pm, officers from the North Division Community Resource Unit stopped a vehicle in the area of Island Road and The Mississaugas Trail.

Police say the driver was unable to provide a valid licence or insurance documentation. A check of her name confirmed she was a suspended driver.

Officers took the woman into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drugs and drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking.

A 40-year-old female from Scugog was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the North Division Community Resource Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1508.

Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
1. Of this time, they are suspect[s] and not convicted by a court, and
