The Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport is providing 12 non-profit organizations in the Region of Durham with $874,200 in funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream.
This funding will help to ensure that communities have safe and ready access to critical programming, activities, and spaces.
The following organizations within the Riding of Durham and Oshawa received a total of $385,600:
- Bowmanville Older Adult Association $19,200
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarington $81,000
- Scugog Arts $15,900
- Oshawa Senior Citizens Centres $116,800
- Oshawa Lawn Bowling Club $31,000
- Boys and Girls Club of Durham $93,700
- Ontario Philharmonic $27,900
Others include Whitby Curling Club and some shared projects with other regions.
“Our government believes organizations like the Bowmanville Older Adult Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarington, and the Scugog Arts Council enrich the lives of people in the Region of Durham and play an important role in building a strong and prosperous economy in Ontario. That’s why I am proud that they are receiving this support,” said Todd McCarthy, MPP for Durham. “These organizations are pillars of our community, and this funding will enable them to better serve the residents of Clarington, Scugog, and Oshawa, and continue to make a positive difference across the whole Region of Durham.”
Whether it is purchasing equipment, building a new space, or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are having a positive impact in the Region of Durham.
Funded projects:
- Improve access to facilities, programs, activities, and services.
- Improve existing spaces and support new build projects.
- Make programs and services better and more efficient.
- Make better use of technology.
