Pared-down 340 new homes project approved for Clarington

A new residential subdivision with up to 340 homes is moving forward in Southeast Courtice.

Located at 2149 Courtice Road, the development by Minto Communities Inc. will include 269 single-detached homes and 71 street townhouses. The plan also features a neighbourhood park, stormwater management facilities, open space, and future blocks for medium- and high-density housing, according to the Municipality of Clarington.

The 98.5-acre site, currently used for agriculture, was rezoned to allow for residential construction. It is located south of Bloor Street and west of Townline Road South.

A central 5.9-acre neighbourhood park will be dedicated to the municipality, which Minto has agreed to provide at no cost. The size of the park was increased from an earlier 3.7-acre proposal following feedback from staff and councillors.

The original plan called for 318 detached homes, but that number was reduced in response to comments from planning staff and external agencies. The development now includes a mix of home types and sizes, along with an approved on-street parking plan to accommodate narrower lot frontages.

  1. You have it listed as South of Bloor St. I think that’s a mistake.
And U wonder how bad the garbage disposal will stink in that area … it’s definitely closer to it
