Second e-bike rider dies in days, after hit with left-turning car

A 50-year-old male has died after a collision with a motor vehicle in Oshawa.

This is the second e-bike rider who had died on the roads of Durham in recent days (see below).

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at about 12:30 pm, members from Central East Division responded to a report of a collision at Harmony Road North and Storie Avenue. A southbound e-bike and a northbound Buick Encore, which was making a left-hand turn, collided.

A 50-year-old male e-bike rider sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital. The driver of the Buick was not injured, remained at the scene, and cooperated, police said.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
