Teen charged for pointing gun at group in Oshawa Centre

Durham Regional Police have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to a firearm-related incident that occurred last fall at the Oshawa Centre (see below).

On Monday, October 7, 2024, at about 7:20 pm, officers from Central East Division responded to reports of a male pointing a firearm at a group of individuals near the south end of the mall. The suspect fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

After months of investigation, a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at a residence in Toronto in April. At the time, the suspect was already in custody for an unrelated matter. A judge subsequently authorized new charges related to the October incident.

The 17-year-old male from Toronto was charged.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Price of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2770.
