Two, with drugs in car, wrong licence, speed off from police stop

Durham Police said two males are facing charges for drug possession following a traffic stop in Clarington.

On Friday, September 6, at about 8:15 pm, members of the East Division Community Response Team (CRT) initiated a traffic stop while on proactive patrol in the area of Highway 115 and Concession Road 4.

Officers observed a Ford SUV driving at a high rate of speed, and attempted a traffic stop. The SUV failed to stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed. Officers pulled alongside the SUV to identify the driver, who then slowly brought the vehicle to a stop. The driver presented a licence to police that was not his. A subsequent search of the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act, revealed a quantity of drugs. The driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident, police said.

A man, age 23 from Toronto and another, age 26 from Toronto, were charged and were both released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
