Want to be a firefighter? Scugog is recruiting volunteers

If you want to be a firefighter, this is to let you know that Scugog is actively recruiting Volunteer Firefighters.

The township gave a few reasons why residents can choose to be a volunteer firefighter:

  • To be involved in your community;
  • To become a member of a dedicated team;
  • To develop lifelong skills and experiences; and
  • To uphold the three lines of defence against fire (public fire safety education, fire safety standards and enforcement and emergency response).

The township said to join the team, a person must have the instinct to help others during difficult times, possess the ability to react and adapt quickly under stressful situations and have personal values that complement the department values:

    • Accountability,
    • Compassion,
    • Duty,
    • Integrity,
    • Proficiency,
    • Relationships and Valor.

It will hold a Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Information Session on Thursday, February 17 from 5pm to 8pm at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre on 1655 Reach Street, Port Perry. Covid-19 protocols will be in place and QR code will be required for admission.
