What do you think Pickering should do with $300,000

The City of Pickering is preparing its 2025 budget and is inviting residents to share their priorities for Pickering’s future.

The participatory budget process provides residents with an opportunity to decide how to allocate a portion of the City of Pickering’s budget.

The allocation is $100,000 per ward, for a total budget of $300,000.

Through this process, residents can review a list of projects and select their preferred choice for enhancing the quality of life in their community. This exercise creates new opportunities for dialogue between residents, elected officials, and the municipal administration, empowering citizens to make a direct impact in their neighbourhood, said a city statement.

It said the project that receives the most votes from the community will be implemented in each ward, at locations determined by city staff.

The voting period began on October 24 and will end on November 15.

Project Options:

  1. Dog park enhancements (each ward currently has an existing dog park)
  2. Outdoor fitness equipment
  3. Shade structure with outdoor gathering space
  4. Urban street furniture
  5. I’d prefer not to invest in any of these projects – don’t do anything

These projects support the City of Pickering’s Recreation & Parks – Ten Year Plan and Corporate Strategic Plan. Visit LetsTalkPickering/Budget to participate and view additional details.
