Woman held for ID fraud at bank + warrant for fake bills man

Durham police yesterday said a female is facing charges after attempting to fraudulently open a bank account in Clarington.

On Thursday, May 28 at about 2:40 pm, members of East Division responded to a fraud call at the Scotia Bank located at 1500 Regional Highway 2. A female was at the bank attempting to open an account using a fraudulent driver’s licence. Officers arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect had reportedly attempted to open an account at a different bank earlier that morning, using fraudulent identification, but was refused, police said.

The suspect, age 41 from Toronto, was charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Warrant For Man In Fake Bills Case

Police have issued a warrant for a male who attempted to use counterfeit currency to make purchases at the Oshawa Centre.

On Friday, March 20 at around 7:20 pm, members of Central East Division responded to a fraud call at the Oshawa Centre located at 419 King Street West. A male attended various businesses and attempted to use fraudulent currency to purchase items. Mall security attempted to stop the suspect; however, he fled the area on foot.

Investigators have now identified the suspect.

The suspect is age 30 from Oshawa.
