Body of woman found on Lake Ontario shore identified

Durham Police investigators have been able to confirm the identity of the human remains found on the shoreline of Lake Ontario in Ajax just over a year ago.

On February 12 morning, members of West Division responded to the area of Lake Ontario near Audley Road for a deceased female found in the water. The body was recovered and sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for a post-mortem examination.

The female was described as Black, shoulder length black hair in braids. The victim has vitiligo skin pigmentation on her face. She was wearing a black sweater vest, red jacket, black socks with a green pattern and black gloves with snowflakes on them.

DNA evidence has confirmed the identity of the female to be 57-year-old Jaqueline Miller from Ajax.

There are no obvious signs of trauma and there is nothing to suggest that foul play is involved, however investigators are appealing for anyone that may have known Jaqueline and has any information to come forward.

If you have any information of assistance to investigators, please contact D/Cst. Kapeluk of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5100.
