According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a 21-year-old driver from Port Perry was stopped by Whitby OPP on Highway 401 westbound at Bennett Road in Clarington after being clocked at 190 kmh. The driver faces stunt driving and other Highway Traffic Act charges. Their licence has been suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle impounded for 14 days.

In a separate case, Durham Regional Police say a driver was caught going 72 kmh over the speed limit on Highway 7/12 in Scugog.

DRPS said the motorist appeared to be “trying to break the land speed record,” but instead ended up with the penalty: a 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.
