Mini RIDE nets two impaired and a stolen vehicle

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) on Tuesday night conducted a mini-RIDE which netted two impaired drivers as well as the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

On the night of April 12, members of DRPS Central East Division conducted a mini RIDE spot check near Stevenson Road and Bloor Street in Oshawa, said a police tweet.

Officers stopped 134 vehicles.

Announcing the results, DRPS said officers wrote two impaired/exceed charges, one W.A.R.N and recovered a stolen vehicle.

“Great initiative by these officers by keeping our roads safe.” a tweet added.

20 tickets for ignoring sign

Separately, DRPS East Division yesterday said there is a $110 fine for disobeying traffic signs.

Officers issued over 20 tickets for disobey sign near Maxwell Heights/Walmart in North Oshawa yesterday morning in a Community Safety Zone.

Meanwhile DRPS North Division reminded drivers to take a second look and watch out for motorcycles. With the warm weather here, we are seeing a lot more bikes on the roads, it said.
