The Regional Municipality of Durham has issued several advisories on its ongoing and new road works in the City of Oshawa.
It has announced an upcoming road closure on Olive Avenue at Simcoe Street South on September 18 and 19. Current lane restrictions in place on Simcoe Street South will continue until fall 2024 it reminded.
It said the closure will be on Olive Avenue (Regional Road 59) at Simcoe Street South (Regional Road 2) in Oshawa. There will be no access from Simcoe Street onto Olive Avenue or from Olive Avenue onto Simcoe Street, however one northbound lane will be open through the intersection on Simcoe Street South during the closure. Traffic will be detoured via First Avenue and Ritson Road (Regional Road 16).
The municipality said the closure is required for the safe installation of a new watermain. This work is part of the Simcoe Street South Road Reconstruction/Rehabilitation project. For more information and updates visit durham.ca/SimcoeStreetWatermain.
Update on Conlin Road closure
The Regional Municipality said Conlin Road, from east of Garrard Road to west of Stevenson Road North, and the intersection of Thornton Road North and Conlin Road West, will remain closed until the end of September.
Work is on to safely install a new feedermain, watermain, sanitary and storm sewer, and to facilitate road reconstruction.
A road closure of Conlin Road from Thickson Road to Garrard Road will be required only after Conlin Road is reopened between Garrard Road and Stevenson Road. Restrictions on Wentworth Street
Lane restrictions on Wentworth Street (Regional Road 60) in the City of Oshawa were scheduled from September 13 to October 4.
These will be from west of Ravine Road to east of Nelson Street, and are required to safely complete minor road rehabilitation.
Restrictions on Taunton Road West
The Regional Municipality advised of upcoming lane restrictions on Taunton Road West in Oshawa and Whitby from September 28 to October 13.
Eastbound and westbound lane restrictions on Taunton Road West, from Airport Boulevard to 300 metres east of Airport Boulevard, will be in place in Oshawa to safely construct a new entrance and concrete median.
Work on Taunton Road West (Regional Road 4) in the Town of Whitby will start from September 18 to the end of October at the intersection of Taunton Road West and Coronation Road.
It is needed to safely install traffic lights and complete boulevard and curb work.
