Ongoing traffic restrictions due to Lakeshore East works

Metrolinx, the operator of GO, has notified of road closures on Highway 401 and Salem Road in the Town of Ajax.

It said to support GO expansion projects, Trans Power will be mobilizing along Salem Road, with road and Highway 401 off-ramp closures necessary to complete the scheduled work.

Closures are planned from July 24 to July 26 daily from 9am to 4pm of two southbound lanes along Salem Road.

There will also be closure of two southbound lanes and one northbound lane along Salem Road daily from 11pm – 6am from July 27 to July 28, as well as full closure of the Highway 401 eastbound off-ramp to Salem Road. Closure of the intersection to be open at the end of the shift, Metrolinx said.

Achilles Road

Meanwhile, the Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Achilles Road in the Town of Ajax, until August 4.

Eastbound lane restrictions will be in place on Achilles Road, from Salem Road to 100 metres west of Salem Road.

These will be in place for the installation of a new watermain.

The region said it realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
