Public tips led police to who Walmart fake note dealer is

Durham Police yesterday said tips from the public helped to identify a male wanted for using counterfeit currency at Walmart in Bowmanville.

In the month of June, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) received numerous tips from the public which assisted them in identifying a male wanted for using counterfeit currency. Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.

The suspect, age 45 from Toronto, is now wanted. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the accused or has any information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Kane of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5371.

The Durham Regional Police Service Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) wants to remind the community that counterfeit currency is still being circulated throughout the region. Everyone is encouraged to double check their bills when handling and receiving cash.
