The City of Oshawa and the Regional Municipality of Durham have announced several road restrictions in Oshawa, Whitby and across Clarington.
Oshawa Road Closure: Colborne Street West will be closed to through traffic on November 5. No through access will be available for emergency vehicles either, said a city announcement.
It said the closure will be from 7 am to 5 pm between Kaiser Crescent and Centre Street North, which will be open for local traffic only from Centre Street.
The closure is needed to set up a crane to lift concrete floor slabs on to new apartment building at 115 Colborne Street West.
Whitby Lane Restrictions: The Regional Municipality of Durham announced ongoing construction and lane restrictions at the intersection of Thickson Road North (Regional Road 26) and Rossland Road East (Regional Road 28) in the Town of Whitby.
These are ongoing until December.
Lane restrictions are in place at the intersection of Thickson Road North and Rossland Road East to safely remove existing traffic signals and lighting and add temporary signals and lighting in preparation for the reconstruction of Rossland Road East.
Bowmanville Works: The Region of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming temporary road closure on Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57) in the Municipality of Clarington, from November 4 at 8 pm to November 5 at 5 am.
Bowmanville Avenue will be temporarily closed from Byers Road to Concession Road 10 for works that are part of the construction to replace the Burketon Station bridge over the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Railway.
Bowmanville Avenue Expansion: There are upcoming lane restrictions on Bowmanville Avenue (Regional Road 57) from Highway 401 to King Street West (Regional Highway 2), as part of the reconstruction project.
The Region’s contractor, KAPP Infrastructure, will begin mobilizing the week of November 3. The anticipated completion date for the entire project is by December 2027.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Bowmanville Avenue from Highway 401 to King Street West, as part of the construction staging. Lane restrictions down to one lane will occur during daytime non-peak traffic hours and delays should be anticipated.
Restrictions are need to safely complete ongoing widening and reconstruction of Bowmanville Avenue, including grading, pavements, drainage, noise barriers, retaining walls, pedestrian tunnel, widening and rehabilitation of Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) overhead bridge, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, traffic signals, illumination, sidewalks, multi-use paths and landscaping.
Newcastle Restrictions: The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on North Street in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Newcastle.
These will be from November 1 to 30, both north and southbound on North Street (Regional Road 17), from the Canadian Pacific Railway crossing to 420 metres south of Concession Road 3, to safely install water services in support of new development.
Courtice Road Closure: There are upcoming road closure on Trulls Road in the Municipality of Clarington’s community of Courtice.
These will be on day and night November 10 to 26, from Bloor Street (Regional Road 22) to Cigas Road, to safely complete road improvements and place asphalt in support of new development.
The region said unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
