Stabbing victim stable; K9 gets attacker

A suspect was arrested after a 23-year-old male was stabbed in Oshawa Monday morning.

On December 28, at approximately 9:05 am, the male victim exited a residence on Banting Avenue after being stabbed. Police and Emergency services located the male victim outside of the residence and rendered first aid. The victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police located the suspect inside the residence and with the assistance of the DRPS K9-Unit, he was arrested. The suspect suffered minor injuries as a result of a dog bite and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Steven McCarthy, age 24, of Banting Avenue in Oshawa, is charged with: Aggravated Assault; Assault with a Weapon; Possess Weapon for Committing an Offence; Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Breach of Probation x3.

He was held for a bail hearing.
