Suspended driver removed from Durham roads

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) commended the “great work” by members of DRPS Central East Division in removing a suspended driver from Durham roads.

On Sunday June 25 at about 1:45 am, offcers were proactively patrolling the area of Park Road South and King Street in Oshawa using ALPR (automated licence plate recognition) system.

After being alerted to a plate, a traffic stop was conducted. In addition to the plate violation, the 44-year old driver from Oshawa was found to be suspended. He was charged.

Stolen vehicle recovered

The ALPR system is proving a boon for Durham Regional Police. It helped members of DRPS West Division in recovering a stolen vehicle.

On Saturday June 24 at about 9 pm, officers were in the area of Liverpool Road and Wharf Street in Pickering, when they came across a stolen vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the suspect as he attempted to walk away from the vehicle.

A 34-year old man from Quebec was charged, police said.
