The Township of Uxbridge has reported ongoing work on its Trail Sustainability Project, which is funded through revenue from the Parking Permit Program and carried out in partnership with the Region of Durham and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), according to township officials.
Officials stated that the paid parking initiative generated approximately $87,000 in revenue in 2024 from out-of-town visitors. This funding has been allocated toward trail infrastructure repairs, new equipment installations, and general maintenance.
Recent Trail Upgrades
According to township staff, the following improvements have been made:
- Mobile restrooms at all locations
- Winter grooming at all locations
- Three new trailhead kiosks installed
- Trail mowing
- Replacement and maintenance of garbage receptacles
- Two parking lot gate replacements
- Parking lot surface repairs, signage, and gate relocation
- One Automatic External Defibrillator and first aid kit installed
- Two bike repair stations installed
The Township of Uxbridge, the Region of Durham, and TRCA acknowledged the support of residents and visitors in maintaining the trails. Officials stated that the project is part of an ongoing effort to ensure sustainable trail management and accessibility.
