Women and kids shelter gets upgrade grant from Ajax

With a $15,000 grant provided by the Ajax Partnership Fund (APF), Herizon House has been able to upgrade its bedroom furniture, helping create a more comforting and welcoming space for women and children that utilize its services.

Completed in early September, the furniture replacement included new beds, desks, window furnishings, updated lighting, painting, and more personal storage, all of which will help provide optimal functionality and comfort, said a town statement.

It said the primary goal for Herizon House was to modernize the bedrooms to create a safe space and an area that is efficient and has storage for anyone’s needs during their stay.

“Ajax Council and the Town of Ajax are pleased to support Herizon House and its shelter furniture replacement through the Ajax Partnership Fund. This investment has helped ensure that necessary upgrades were made so that women and their children can continue to have a comforting and welcoming space for years to come,” said Mayor Shaun Collier.
