Another Durham hydro pole bites the dust…

Durham Post has commented several times on the affinity between drivers and Durham poles.

Well, the powers of attraction of the latter yesterday managed to draw another of the motorists to its embrace.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers yesterday had to close off northbound Westney Road at Kingston Road and southbound from Hettersley Drive in Ajax for a collision investigation.

There are no reported injuries at this time, said a police tweet. However, a hydro pole has been knocked down and hydro [repair crews] will be attending, it added.

Pole, fence, tree kept getting in way of impaired driver

Speeding unabated

Meanwhile, despite poor road condition, several Durham drivers were caught speeding.

DRPS East Division officers at Harmony and Conlin roads in Oshawa, clocked a driver at 98 kmh in a posted 60 construction zone, with workers present.

The driver was fined $571 and received four demerit points.

DRPS North Division also charged another driver with speeding in Scugog.

“Please obey the speed limit,” they said.

DRPS East Division officers also reminded residents that motorized recreational vehicles are not allowed in Clarington Parks, nor are they allowed in the Bowmanville Valley’s 2000.

You could get a $90 bylaw fine, and other charges may apply, they said.
