No GO trains on some weekends this fall, says Metrolinx

Metrolinx, the operator of GO service, has announced train service on the Lakeshore East line will be replaced with shuttle buses on some weekends this fall.

The train stoppage is to perform important maintenance projects and key infrastructure updates, said a Metrolinx notice.

It urged users to plan ahead when travelling on the following dates:

  • September 22 after 10 pm to end of service September 25. Buses will replace all Lakeshore East train service.
  • October 13 after 10 pm to end of service October 15. Buses will replace all Lakeshore East train service.
  • Monday, October 16, 30-minute all-day train service will be available only between Durham College Oshawa GO and Danforth GO stations. There will be no train service to Union Station.

“We’re performing numerous maintenance projects on the tracks and key infrastructure updates for East Harbour Transit Hub, Eglinton GO and further progress on adding a fourth track along the Lakeshore East line. This work can only be done when trains are not running,” Metrolinx explained.
