Brock shooting inquiry leads to 29,000+ weed plants

Durham Police investigating at least 15 shots being fired at night in a Cannington neighbourhood (see below), came upon a large cache of cannabis.

On Monday, December 16, at about 3 am, officers responded to the area of Peace Street and Davidson Street in Cannington in the Township of Brock for an armed person call.

Officers said they arrived on scene and were able to review video footage that captured the sound of gunshots. With the assistance of the K9 Unit, a search of the area was conducted and officers identified a warehouse on Davidson Drive as the target. No physical injuries have been reported at this time, police said.

Further investigation, the DRPS said, led to the discovery of a cannabis grow operation with a large quantity of plants in excess of their licence. With the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Unit and the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, investigators seized just under 29,000 cannabis plants and dried cannabis.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact North Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-905-579-1520 ext. 1505.
